One way to do this is through scripture memorization, which can be both fun and educational!
One effective method is through a Bible Verse Memory Matching Game. This is an interactive activity that not only aids in memorizing verses, but also enhances cognitive skills like concentration and recall.

How to Create a DIY Bible Verse Memory Game
Materials Needed:
- Cardstock or thick paper
- Scissors
- Markers/ pens
- Optional: Decorative materials like stickers or stamps
- Optional: printer for my downloadable memory game
Instructions:
1. Prepare the cards:
- Cut cardstock into squares or rectangles to serve as your game cards. Ensure you have an even number of cards, as each verse and its reference will form a pair
- Alternatively, you can print out my downloadable Bible Verse Memory cards. I have a blank template for you to print and fill out as well as some prefilled bible verses already made for boys and girls.
2. Select Bible Verses:
- Choose several Bible Verses appropriate for the child’s age
3. Create Pairs
- On one card, write the Bible verse
- On the matching card, write the book, chapter and verse number (e.g. Genesis 1:1)
4. Decorate (Optional)
- Encourage your child to decorate the cards using stamps, stickers or drawings to make them more personalized and engaging
How to Play:
1. Game Setup:
- Shuffle the cards thoroughly
- Lay them face down in a grid formation
2. Playing the Game:
- Players take turns flipping over 2 cards at a time, aiming to match the verse with its correct reference
- If a match is found, the player keeps the pair and takes another turn
- If there’s not a match, the cards are flipped back over and the next player takes a turn
- The game continues until all pairs are matched. The player at the end wins.
