Imagine if 2024 was your year…a year to finally achieve your goals and make your dreams become a reality.

A year where you discipline yourself to work on your weaknesses and are able to celebrate your successes.

A year where you improve your self doubt, speak kinder to yourself and maintain positivity in the face of doubt.

This is what I want for me in 2024.

I’m a firm believer in self improvement and the idea that there is always something we can improve upon in our lives.

Every year I have always tried to set goals, not just at the beginning of the year, and although I have been successful at some goals, other times, I have fallen short.

Whether it be improving my diet and exercise, maintaining positivity, or even just believing in myself in the face of doubt, I have not always been able to be my best self.

And many times, I have stopped working towards these goals because either I lacked the discipline, stopped believing in myself, or even quit because life was just too busy.

However, I want to do better.   It would be very hypocritical of me to write about personal development and achieving goals if I don’t strive to improve myself on a daily basis.

“The best way to predict the future is to create it”

Abraham Lincoln

After all, I firmly believe that there is always something we can improve upon in our lives.

So this is my personal development journey- the good, the bad and the ugly.

For 2024, I have decided to challenge myself to a new 30 day challenge each month to work on my personal goals, and to make myself accountable, I decided to blog the experience under the blog post title 365 to 180.

Why 365 to 180?

Because 365 represents a year and 180 represents a total change, or a shift in behavior. Ionically enough though, 2024 is a leap year, lol, but I’m still going with 365 as it represents a traditional year. 🙂

If you decide to follow my journey throughout the year you will know more about me than most people!

Here’s My Challenge…

Each month,  I will set a new 30 day challenge which will work towards one of my 2024 goals.  I will share helpful information relating to the challenge, the benefits as well as my successes, failures, and what I’ve learned along the way.

I will reflect on my experiences and share any tips and useful information that might help you along your personal development journey if you decide to do the same.

What is a 30 Day Challenge?

First, if you’re new to the idea of 30 day challenges, let me talk a little bit about it.

30 Day challenges work on the principle of dedicating a focused, short amount of time, 30 days, to a particular challenge to lead to a lasting, profound effect.

This taps into the psychology of habit building through dedication and determination so we can provide ourselves with the opportunity to break free from harmful habits, and develop better habits for a healthier, happier life.

Forming a new habit varies from person to person but can often take 1-3 months of consistency.

The goal is to create better, healthier habits.

I have just published a blog post about different 30 day challenges that you can check out here as well as a blog post about habits to break in 2024 to live a better life.

Benefits of a 30 Day Challenge

A 30 Day Challenge holds many benefits.and act as a catalyst for positive change.  Here are some of the benefits:

  1. Develops consistency– By discipling yourself for 30 days, you are establishing a routine,  After all, consistency is the key to success.
  2. Builds momentum- The 30 day duration creates a sense of accomplishment, building momentum for further personal development improvements.  This is what I am hoping for on my 365 to 180 personal development journey.
  3. Enhances discipline– By committing wholeheartedly to a 30 day challenge, you are contributing to the development of self control and willpower.
  4. Focuses on short term goals–  Breaking down large goals into 30 day increments, makes them more manageable and less overwhelming.  The key is to break down large goals into smaller, more attainable goals.  And, by taking these smaller goals into 30 day increments, the hope is that you will see your progress and maintain willpower.
  5. Cultivates self awareness– Reflecting on your progress during a 30 day challenge enhances self awareness, helping you understand what is working and what isn’t.  It allows you to understand your strengths and areas for improvement.
  6. Creates a foundation for long term change- A 30 day challenge is the catalyst and lays the foundation for long term lifestyle change.  It’s the process of building a new, healthier habit
  7. Boosts confidence–  By completing a 30 day challenge, you will be achieving your goals, which will boost your confidence and self esteem.  You will not only be able to say “I did that”, but you’ll be able to see the tangible results.  This will then encourage you to take on more challenges.
  8. Provides a clear time frame

My Goals for 2024

My personal development journey goals for 2024 in no particular order are:

Lose 50-60 pounds by the end of the year

Develop a weekly exercise routine and stick to it

Be more positive and express gratitude daily

Read the Bible in a year

Be kinder to myself and prioritize self care

Declutter and Organize my home

Eat healthier – more fruits, vegetables and limit the amount of sweets and soft drinks

These are my goals that I hope to achieve by the end of the year.

However, my plan is to break these larger goals into smaller, more achievable goals with a new 30 day challenge each month.  I haven’t decided 100% how I’m going to organize my year, but I will take things one month at a time.

If you decide to follow me on this journey, save the pin below so you will be able to get back to this blog post.  I will be creating a new blog post each month for each new 30 day challenge and will provide links as I go to any other relevant posts.
